Microdermabrasion
Improving the tone and texture of your skin can brighten up your face and help you look more vibrant. Microdermabrasion is an excellent medical spa option with minimal to no downtime needed. People from Springfield, Longmeadow, Northampton, MA, and surrounding areas come to our Westfield office for facial rejuvenation with microdermabrasion.
What Is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that involves exfoliating the outermost layer of skin using a specialized device. The device sprays tiny crystals or uses a diamond tip wand to remove dead skin cells, dirt, and debris from the skin’s surface.
At New England Dermatology & Laser Center in Massachusetts, we also offer hydrodermabrasion, which combines microdermabrasion with hydration. It uses a specialized device that exfoliates and removes dead skin cells while simultaneously infusing the skin with a hydrating serum or solution.
What Does Microdermabrasion Improve?
Microdermabrasion effectively exfoliates your skin to improve the following skin concerns.
- Hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne and shallow acne scars
- Clogged pores
- Discoloration
- Uneven skin texture
You can follow up your microdermabrasion treatment with a gentle med spa laser treatment such as IPL photofacial for more effective results.
What To Expect During and After Your Microdermabrasion Treatment
Your provider will exfoliate with tiny crystals applied to the skin with the help of a handheld device. The crystals gently remove the outer skin layer and its dry or damaged skin cells. Although the surface layer of the skin is impacted, the healthy skin underneath remains intact.
You may notice some redness after your treatment, but no downtime is typically needed after microdermabrasion. Make sure to use a moisturizer and sunscreen on your skin, as you will have some peeling and flaking.
How Long Will Microdermabrasion Last?
You can enjoy smoother, younger-looking skin for 1 to 2 months after microdermabrasion. To maintain your results, apply broad-spectrum sunscreen outdoors and follow an effective daily skin care regimen. You can have a follow-up treatment every 4 weeks or as needed.
Microdermabrasion is a safe, fast, and easy way to experience glowing and even-textured skin. Our experienced esthetic team will make sure you get the best results from your microdermabrasion treatment.
